The City Council has transformed “La Vieja escuela” into a cultural space focused on the educational history of the neighbourhood of La Zarza, from the founding of the first school to the present day.
In this way, a project is consolidated as a platform of recognition of the teaching work of those who were involved in the education of young people and the memory of the experience of those children of yesterday who today make up the current population is rescued.
This initiative aims to be an insular reference point for the efforts of teachers and villagers who, with scarcely any resources, made the educational development of the population possible in the most unfavourable conditions. The museum offers an exhibition framework that explains the development of the municipality, both with material resources and with the experiences and experiences of the inhabitants themselves, as well as the teachers who educated the society of Fasnia.
The museum was created in July 1989, moved to its current location and opened in July 2015. Thanks to a group of volunteers, every Saturday from 10am to 12pm the museum opens its doors to all visitors.
