This manor house was built in the second half of the 17th century and, although it has now been converted into a country hotel, its architecture corresponds to a noble residence of the period and clearly defines the status of the manor by having threshing floors, wine presses and barns.
The general appearance of the building is that of a conglomerate of modules and attached construction units, without any previous construction programme. The lack of a central courtyard is a unique element that sets it apart from other large estates on the island. The only two-storey building has carpentry work in its openings, with solid cushions and others with masonry parapets and interior corner seats. The main entrance is preceded by a large vegetable garden, where the cistern is located. Towards the back, an extensive courtyard is partially delimited by the old cellars and stables, where there are two wine presses with a thatched gabled roof, as well as a threshing floor in a good state of preservation. Tradition has it that the Casa del Patio was built in the last third of the 17th century, although it has undergone important alterations since then.
Its construction coincided with the creation of the lordship of the valley of Santiago by King Philip IV in 1663, which was granted to Fernando del Hoyo Solórzano y Alzola, field master of the tercios de milicias provinciales, segregating this territory from the jurisdiction of the Cabildo Insular, which strongly opposed this act.
