Centro de visitantes Chinyero

The El Chinyero Interpretation Centre is a space dedicated not only to the eruption of this volcano but also to the volcanology of the whole island in general. The use of multimedia and audiovisual resources make this centre one of the most avant-garde in terms of museography on the island of Tenerife.

The hall of the trails takes a tour of the tourist resources of the municipality that have to do with its culture and nature, showing itself as a magnet for visitors from all over the world. Another room is made up of backlit panels, an interactive display and an exhibition of typical pottery objects from Santiago del Teide. This facility was created as another rural, cultural and tourist resource in the area, and complements the existing offer by becoming a space where all the natural, tourist and architectural attractions of Santiago del Teide can be displayed. In this way, a complementary offer is created that aims to transmit in an experimental way the volcanological reality of this area. The historic eruption of El Chinyero took place in 1909, although the volcanic landscape dominates the entire island territory, which is also crossed by an important local network of footpaths. An offer that also aims to attract specialised ecotourists, who are looking for high quality services linked to geotourism and scientific tourism”.

Audiovisuals, backlit panels, samples of types of lava and volcanic rocks are complemented by the Path Interpretation Centre, with the Almond Tree in Bloom Route; the Tamaimo-Guama-Tamaimo circular path; the El Molledo-Degollada Risco branch; Santiago del Teide Puerto Santiago, and the El Chinyero Route.
