Mirador de la Centinela

Nestled in the southern highlands of the island, on the border between the municipalities of Arona and San Miguel, there is an eye-catching viewpoint that blends into the landscape, covered in stone, from which you can contemplate a wide panoramic view from San Miguel to Roque del Conde through its large windows. This landscape is dotted with volcanic structures, such as the San Blas Environmental Reserve, the Montaña Amarilla Natural Monument and the Montaña Roja Special Nature Reserve.

The La Centinela viewpoint, located at the foot of Roque de Jama, forms part of the natural landscape of San Miguel de Abona and has become a point of reference for the municipality in terms of culture and heritage.

The facility is located in the municipality of San Miguel de Abona on the border with the municipality of Arona, making it the ideal place to locate the Roque de Jama-La Centinela Archaeological Zone Interpretation Centre, which will enable the treasure trove of Guanche engravings in the area to be disseminated and recovered. This area, which was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 2018 by the Canary Islands Government, brings together the greatest variety and concentration of archaeological sites in the south of the island.
