Monumento a la Obra del Santo Hermano Pedro, Camino de Santidad

Sculpture made by Alejandro Tosco, reflecting the cobbled path that starts from the Saint’s hand, holding the element that most characterises him, the bell, which is at ground level as a sign of humility, attachment to the earth and passion for nature. Next to it the flower of the ‘Esquisúchil’, known as the sacred tree of Brother Pedro, to which healing and even miraculous properties are attributed.

A path that represents the passage of his life, as a shepherd who travelled along paths in search of pasture, as a traveller to Guatemala, where he developed his most humanitarian side, being ahead of his time with new pedagogical methods and establishing social services that were unimaginable in his time, such as the hospital for convalescents.

From this place you can find, on one side the Sanctuary of Brother Pedro, where his birthplace was located, and on the other side the Church of San Pedro Apóstol, where his baptismal font is located.

You can also start and finish the three trails related to his life, as a shepherd who resorted to transhumance to find pasture for his flock:

El Hoyo – Vilaflor trail
Vilaflor – Brother Pedro Cave Trail
Vilaflor – Los Llanitos Trail

Nearby there is a specimen of the ‘Esquisúchil Tree’, closely related to the life of Saint Brother Pedro in Guatemala, and a few metres away we find the ‘Gardens of Brother Pedro’, where medicinal and aromatic plants are cultivated, which he used in Guatemala to relieve the ailments and illnesses of the people who resorted to him.
